The door check is what holds the car door to the frame and keeps the door from closing once it is opened. It often collects grime and dust which can create a noise when you open the door. It feels fine like it s not loose or anything it s just really loud and annoying. It is another area where you may hear the squeaking noise which can be caused by rust or dirt buildup.

Like you said the door doesn t catch no rub at the fender etc. The sound is coming from the front of the door. My drivers side door makes a loud popping noise when it reaches a certain point as i am opening it. When the driver side door is opened there is a clunk sound about half way through the swing.

Anyone know if it just might need something like wd 40 or if i need to take it somewhere. When the weather was cold the car creaked popped groaned and made all kinds of noise. I know on mine the door hinge was making the popping. When the door is closed there is a couple clunks then a thud.

What is causing this and does it mean big trouble soon. The sound of a car door opening and closing. On my 99 z28 it would act up every few months more when cold. But man that spring can make a pretty awful pop noise.

It does the same thing in the same place as i close it. If you have air flow but it is not cold check the blend door for operation first. Most power door locks operate using gears or motors that may quietly whir or make noise when they operate.
