The senescence β galactosidase staining kit is designed to conveniently provide reagents needed to detect β galactosidase activity at ph 6 a known characteristic of senescent cells.

Briefly detection is based on the formation of the avidin biotin complex abc. Altered forms of this receptor may be associated with some types of cancer. Papers have published using this kit in both cells and frozen tissue. Saccharomyces cerevisiae stained with the fun 1 cell stain which generates red fluorescent intravacuolar structures and with calcofluor white m2r a blue fluorescent cell wall stain. Fun 1 cell stain is also available separately. This kit provides enough reagents to perform 50 flow cytometry tests or 50 microscopy tests for 18 x 18 mm coverslips or 200 microscopy tests adapted for 96 well plate format.
